What is your name, your baby's name, and baby's age?
Megan Lin Nesbitt, I have son named Samuel James Nesbitt who will be 9 months and I have two year old daughter Skylee Lin.

How was your (or your partner's) pregnancy?
It was better then my first, which I had low blood pressure problems and I would blackout I ended up on bedrest for three months but with this pregnancy I was tired but going to school full time.

How did you prepare for childbirth?
I got as much sleep as possible with a two year at home, i didnt go to classes this time because I had previously gone to them and with me studying nursing this time around I was more ready.

Was your birthing experience easier, harder or as you expected it to be?
It was a little hardier yet easier. I had a repeat c-section so I was not in labor whereas before I had a emergency one with my daughter because our blood pressures both dropped. So I wasnt in hard labor with Sam. Everyone keep telling me having a second c-section is harder but with this one I was up the same night, ready to go.

What one piece of advice would you give to expecting parents about childbirth?
Plan as much as you can even if you already have children, PLAN is key. Go into childbirth with a open mind because things can change in a blink of eye. I was in hard labor and thought I was going to give a vaginal birth but ended up with an emergency c-section. It was scary but it was best for myself and my baby girl.

Describe the first 7 days with your newborn
I was in the hospital for the first 4 days so It was nice because I got rest with the nurses helping me.  Once I went home my husband and my daughter were there. I could not get over how much easier it felt this time, I just knew what to do, when to feed him. I wasn't scared to break him. Having my daughter love him so much and want to help was a great help.

Bottle or Breast?
I chose bottle. It was a personal choice, being that I am a nurse and know breast is best. I realize how great breast milks is but I knew i was going back to school a month after I had Samuel to finish my nursing degree so I knew bottle would end being a better option

Who is on diaper duty?
Mom and Dad, but after Samuel was born from June to end of September I was taking care of the kids alone 4 days a week while my husabnd worked out of town. So I was totally on diaper duty, but my daughter did help throw them away, lol which was great :)

What resource was the most helpful to you during the first 2 months (book, website, person, anything).
I read Jenny McCarthy books, I LOVE HER, she is real and a real mom. She helped me get threw tough times. I also used babycenter. com like crazy, especially with my first pregnancy.

Was there an age when it "suddenly got easier"?
I think there is no easy age to take care of children. If that is what you are meaning. Being a mom is challenging and wonderful. If you are talking about Samuels age, once he started solid food I was gratuful because I knew that soon the bottle would gone :)

What type of stroller do you use?
We are looking for a double stroller since my daughter is only two but right now we still use her old pink one and YES we get looks for using a pink graco stroller on my son.

What was the best newborn gift you received?
All the boy clothes I got, since we had a girl before I had soo many girl things nothing for a boy and all my friends and family embraced me and gave me wonderful clothes.

What is your current can't-live-without gear for baby?
my swing...if I didnt have that so Samuel could sleep and I could get homework done, take care of Skylee and the house i would scream!

Are you getting any "me" time?
When I can, recently I passed my state board and became a LPN and my husband sent me to a spa which was wonderful and much needed.

What did you find most surprising about your newborn?
How he sleeps, he sleeps great. Ever since he was a 2 months old he slept through the night, so to all the people who told me that my second would be trouble since Skylee was easy, HA HA HA.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Megan.

It's funny what you say about the pink stroller... would you recommend new moms choose neutral colors for baby gear they may want to re-use in the future?

Megan - 2/8/2010
I would totally recommend that!! I wish now we would have thought more about netural colors. :)
